instructor who died trying to protect their children in school Sandy Hook was described as a dedicated teacher, who had been his dream.
Victoria Soto, 27, was one of six adults and 20 children killed in school shooting base on Friday.
It is believed Soto died trying to protect his students. According to his cousin, Jim Wiltsie, a police officer, said the family was told that Soto was trying to get his class in the bedroom when the killer entered the room. "In our view, he is a hero," he told ABC News Wiltsie.
"She tried to shield to protect their children from the room, and effects. To do this you put yourself between militants and children and that when she was bored shot and killed."
Wiltsie said the family took some solace in the fact that Soto died doing the job he loved.
"His life has been a dream of becoming a teacher and silica is a thrill when he saw that harm come to his disciples," he told ABC News, adding: "He lost his life doing what he loved he loved his children .. His goal in life was to become a teacher to shape young minds. "
His desire to educate began at a young age, those who are near the teacher said. As well as teaching in the first grade, Soto also had to study a master's degree in special education at Southern Connecticut State University. He graduated from the University of Connecticut and the Eastern Province of basic education and history degree. "I have a passion for learning," he wrote on the website of his teacher.
Honeycomb listed his desires from school, spending time with family, with his dog, a black Labrador named Roxie. Soto was in the school for five years, first as an intern, then as a teacher in a classroom.
